Roast House Assistant

The Roast House Assistant plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the roastery, ensuring that roasted coffee products are produced, packed and dispatched safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. The role supports all aspects of production, stock handling, order fulfilment and housekeeping while maintaining strict compliance with food safety, health and safety, and company quality procedures.

The Roast House Assistant is responsible for ensuring that products leaving the roastery consistently meet company standards and customer expectations through accurate production processes, attention to detail and effective teamwork.

Key responsibilities include;

• Support the daily production schedule as directed by the Roast House Manager.
• Prepare roasted coffee products through grinding, weighing, bagging and sealing processes in accordance with company specifications.
• Ensure all products are produced accurately and consistently to meet quality standards.
• Monitor product quality throughout the production process, identifying and reporting any defects or inconsistencies.
• Complete production tasks efficiently to meet daily production targets.
• Ensure all production records, batch records and traceability documentation are completed accurately.
• Follow company procedures for allergen control, food hygiene & safety, and manual handling
• Prepare coffee bags ready for dispatch, ensuring products are correctly weighed, sealed and presented.
• Apply accurate product labels, batch numbers and best-before dates in accordance with legal and company requirements.
• Verify that all packaging materials meet company quality standards before use.
• Report any packaging or labelling issues immediately to the Roast House Manager.
• Receive deliveries of green coffee, packaging and other materials.
• Check deliveries against purchase orders and delivery documentation.
• Report shortages, damages or discrepancies to the Roast House Manager before accepting deliveries.
• Store stock safely and correctly following stock rotation principles (FIFO where applicable).
• Assist with regular stock counts and inventory checks.
• Ensure production stock levels are maintained by notifying the Roast House Manager of low stock or shortages.
